Muscat – In response to growing concerns among farmers, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and maintaining the stability of Oman’s food supply system.
In its statement, the Ministry acknowledged the oversupply of locally grown onions and stressed its understanding of farmers’ concerns, especially those seeking fair market opportunities and sustainable returns for their harvests. It assured that steps are being taken in coordination with relevant partners to develop practical and long-term solutions to address the marketing gap.

“The Ministry fully understands the commitment of Omani farmers to maintaining the quality of their products and marketing them in a manner that supports both their livelihoods and national food security,” the statement read.

Among the measures under consideration are improved organization of production cycles, activation of more effective marketing mechanisms, and support strategies to stabilize the local market amid fluctuating supply levels.

The Ministry also urged farmers and agricultural investors to register with the Omani Farmers Association, which offers a range of guidance and support programs. By joining the Association, farmers can benefit from structured planning and marketing efforts that align with national agricultural policies and frameworks.
