Muscat: Founded in 1989, GCLI began as a small workshop in Ruwi, Muscat, producing shoes and leather goods for the local market. In 1991, the company relocated to Rusayl Industrial City, gradually building a reputation as a trusted Omani brand. Today, it manufactures a wide range of products including men’s and women’s shoes, medical footwear, wallets, and bags.

Engineer Khamis bin Mohammed Al Alawi, General Manager of GCLI, stated that the company now operates five production lines under registered trademarks such as Ghazala, Tiger, Dana, Glimco, and Perkin Ortho. The Ghazala line, in particular, has stood out with a 30-year legacy of craftsmanship.

With the new factory, GCLI aims to boost production capacity and meet increasing export orders from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The company’s growth is backed by a focus on high-quality materials, primarily imported natural leather, and the use of advanced manufacturing technologies.

Al Alawi highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable innovation and skill development, noting that more than 90 employees undergo continuous training to maintain international quality standards. GCLI’s ambitions also stretch beyond the GCC, with plans to export to markets like Japan and France.

Looking ahead, the company plans to diversify into new segments including sports shoes and premium leather goods like luggage and business bags, as part of a long-term strategy to strengthen its global presence and brand appeal.
