Muscat – Omani innovator Moayed bin Sameer Al Balushi was awarded the prestigious gold medal for his invention, ‘Etienne – SOS Rescue Device’, which enhances maritime security by sending distress signal to fishermen via satellite and radio waves.

Two silver medals were also awarded to Omani inventors. Mahmoud bin Mohammed Al Hanaei received recognition for his invention of an air conditioning sterilization and cleaning system, designed to improve hygiene and efficiency in cooling systems. Layan bint Saeed Al Rahbi was also honoured for her project ‘Language’, an assistive communication tool aimed at helping hearing and speech impaired people interact more easily with society.

Speaking at the event, Ibrahim bin Ahmed Al Balushi, head of the Sultanate’s delegation, noted that this marked Oman’s first participation under the umbrella of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation. He explained that the participation reflects the ministry’s commitment to supporting individual innovators by offering them platforms to compete internationally, connect with global inventors, and present their innovations to potential investors and industry leaders.

It is worth noting that the Sultanate of Oman participated in this edition of the exhibition with four projects: ‘Car Air Conditioning Cleaning and Sterilization System’ project, ‘Language’ project, ‘Scientific Traveler’ mobile application project, and ‘Etienne’ project.
