Muscat – This took place during a meeting between His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and His Excellency Abdul Salam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority, along with the project team.

The meeting also saw the participation of Mun Leong Liew, CEO of GMC. Discussions centred on the various components of the GMC project, which is one of Bhutan’s flagship development plans. The initiative seeks to establish a sustainable, innovative city with a focus on attracting investments in advanced technology, education, healthcare, and hospitality sectors.

Both Oman and Bhutan expressed a strong interest in exploring cooperation opportunities and building a partnership around this ambitious venture. The Omani delegation commended the bold vision behind the GMC project, recognising its potential to serve as a platform for qualitative partnerships between investment institutions in both countries.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large, His Excellency Ambassador Issa bin Saleh Al Shaibani, Ambassador of Oman to India and non-resident ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to to Bhutan, along with several senior officials from both nations.
