MUSCAT : Officials have warned against reckless behaviors such as setting off firecrackers, dangerous driving, and firing firearms, all of which pose serious threats to public safety and peace—and carry legal consequences.

“Joy and happiness don’t mean we neglect safety and caution,” the statement read, urging the public to celebrate responsibly.

The use of firecrackers and fireworks, in particular, was highlighted as a crime punishable by law, not only causing disturbance but also risking injury, property damage, and emotional distress to families.

Similarly, drifting and show-off driving, often seen during festive occasions, were labeled as “uncivilized behavior” and a serious traffic violation that endangers lives on the road.

Firing firearms during celebrations was also strongly condemned, with authorities reminding the public that it violates Weapons and Ammunition Law No. 90/36.

Authorities wish all citizens a safe, joyful Eid and a prosperous New Year, urging everyone to celebrate in a manner that honors both the spirit of the occasion and the safety of the community.
