Islamic banking assets in Oman register 16.6% growth

Islamic banking in the Sultanate of Oman continues to gain momentum, with total assets of Islamic banks and windows rising to approximately RO 8.6 billion by the end of December 2024.

Muscat: Accounting for 19.2% of the country’s total banking sector assets, this marks a robust 16.6% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

According to official data, the total financing balance provided by Islamic financial institutions reached nearly RO 7 billion, registering a 14.2% growth year-on-year.

Deposits also saw strong upward movement, climbing by 21.3% to reach around RO 6.7 billion by year-end.
