Oman’s diplomatic efforts fuel surge in FDI, reaching RO 26.7 billion

Oman's strategic diplomatic efforts are proving effective in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), with figures reaching a substantial RO26.7 billion by the end of September, according to recent government reports.

MUSCAT : This growth follows the arrival of 22 trade and investment delegations to the Sultanate throughout the year, highlighting the crucial role of the country’s diplomatic missions in attracting international investors.

The achievement was announced at a meeting organised by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The high-level meeting, convened by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion alongside the Foreign Ministry, brought together ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions to enhance foreign investment flows into the country.



Key discussions during the meeting centred on Oman’s growing investment opportunities, with a special emphasis on sectors such as manufacturing, food security, and pharmaceuticals. These industries now represent 50 percent of the total FDI in Oman, signalling a targeted approach to strengthening these strategic sectors.

Her Excellency Ibtisam Ahmed Said al Farooji, Undersecretary for Investment Promotion, stressed the vital role of Oman’s diplomatic missions in attracting investment and promoting the country’s products abroad. She emphasized the importance of the meeting as a platform to refine investment strategies and strengthen international alliances.

His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs in the Foreign Ministry, highlighted the success of Oman’s economic diplomacy. He explained that Oman’s embassies worldwide are instrumental in supporting investment initiatives and facilitating access to international markets. He further assured continued collaboration with all relevant entities to drive economic growth and solidify Oman’s position as a leading investment hub.

The meeting reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to achieving its economic diversification goals and boosting its global standing as a key player in international trade and investment.
