“He did this to gain public sympathy”: Oman’s Supreme Judicial Council responds to video claiming injustice

The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has addressed a video clip shared by a citizen on social media, in which he filmed his family members in a tent and claimed that they were unjustly removed from their home due to a court ruling.

MUSCAT : The Council clarified that the citizen and his family continue to reside in their home, and that the statements made in the video were entirely false. During the investigation, the citizen admitted that he fabricated the story to gain public sympathy.

“The Council calls on the public to seek the truth from its sources, affirming its commitment to achieving prompt justice and consolidating the rule of law by providing a fair legal environment that preserves the rights and freedoms of society and individuals,” reads the statement from SJC.

The Council stressed its dedication to upholding the rule of law and creating a fair legal environment that protects the rights and freedoms of individuals and society.

The statement also highlighted the importance of promoting justice and fairness in all cases, maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability. The Council reminded the public that the law provides established procedures for appealing judicial rulings, filing grievances, and inspecting the work of judges.
