MUSCAT : “To ensure a secure shopping experience, the Ministry urges consumers to purchase only from e-commerce platforms licensed by the Ministry and verified on the Maroof Oman platform,” reads the ministry notice.

In an alert issued online, the ministry stated that it has recently observed an increase in online fraud cases involving individuals fraudulently using registered commercial records from the Oman Business Platform to operate deceptive e-commerce stores.

To safeguard against online fraud, the Ministry urges consumers to ensure they are purchasing only from licensed e-commerce platforms listed on the Maroof Oman platform. The Maroof Oman platform provides a verified list of authorized online stores, ensuring a secure shopping experience.

The Ministry also advises shoppers to cross-check the contact details provided by online stores to ensure they match the information listed in their commercial registration. Additionally, consumers are warned not to transfer payments to personal accounts, as this practice increases the risk of fraud and financial loss.
