MUSCAT : The ban targets imports of live birds from Normandy in France, Lisbon in Portugal, and Puerto Rico.

The decision, based on the Veterinary Quarantine Law (Royal Decree No. 45/2004) and its Executive Regulations (Ministerial Resolution No. 107/2008), follows recommendations from the competent veterinary authority citing concerns regarding animal health.

The Ministry clarified that products, derivatives, and offal that have been heat-treated or prepared according to the guidelines of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code issued by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) will be exempt from the ban.

The Ministry has instructed the relevant authorities to enforce the resolution in their respective areas of expertise. The decision will take effect immediately upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
