Muscat: The court imposed financial penalties after the company failed to honor a product warranty, reinforcing the government’s commitment to protecting consumer rights.

The case originated when a consumer filed a complaint with the Consumer Protection Department in South Al Batinah (Barka) after purchasing a washing machine for RO 150. The machine, which came with a one-year comprehensive warranty and a ten-year motor warranty, broke down during the warranty period. While the company repaired it once, it failed again and subsequently refused to fix it.

After the consumer sought help from authorities, the case was referred to the competent court, which found the defendants guilty of failing to guarantee repair and maintenance. The court ordered the company to:
Pay a fine of RO 100
Refund RO 130 to the consumer
Cover additional legal expenses
