MUSCAT : The meeting took place between His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and His Excellency Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Afghan Foreign Minister, who is currently in Oman on a visit.

The two ministers engaged in friendly discussions, reflecting on the historical ties and shared cultural values between the two nations. They highlighted the importance of deepening collaboration for the mutual benefit of both countries and peoples.

Oman and Afghanistan agreed to promote trade exchanges and investment opportunities, particularly in the areas of food security and knowledge-sharing through educational and training programs.

His Excellency Sayyid Albusaidi reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to supporting Afghanistan’s efforts to integrate into the international community, ensuring that the country retains its constructive and esteemed role on the global stage. The Omani Minister also highlighted Oman’s dedication to fostering peaceful dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional and international challenges.

On his part, His Excellency Amir Muttaqi praised Oman’s foreign policy, which is grounded in respecting the sovereignty of states, non-interference in internal affairs, and prioritizing peace and stability through dialogue. He emphasized the importance of such meetings in opening new avenues for cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including His Excellency Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large at the Foreign Ministry, and Omar Ghulam Rasouli, Charge D’Affaires of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Muscat, alongside other officials from both countries.
