MUSCAT : He highlighted the enduring principles of respect, cooperation, and wisdom that have shaped Oman’s foreign policy.

Reflecting on Oman’s unique approach to diplomacy, Yusuf Alawi emphasised that the country’s foreign policy is not driven by aggression but by wisdom, balance, and respect for history.

“Today’s world is moving towards erasing the past, but our history remains clean, and our relationship with neighbours and friends is based on respect and cooperation,” he stated.

Addressing the nature of diplomatic work, he commented: “Diplomatic work is not just a responsibility, but an ongoing cooperation, and we have worked together from the beginning without gaps.”

Omani diplomacy, according to Alawi, is characterised by its focus on wisdom rather than aggression. Explaining the key difference between the diplomacy of hawks and the diplomacy of minds, he said, “Omani diplomacy is not the diplomacy of hawks, but the diplomacy of minds. What is the difference between them? Hawks always tend towards aggression, while minds rely on wisdom and balance. Today we can say that Omani diplomacy has become a legacy passed down between generations.”
