Muscat sees decline, while Salalah records growth as passenger numbers dip at Oman Airports in January 2025

Passenger traffic at Oman’s airports saw a 6% decline in January 2025, with a total of 1,331,619 travelers compared to 1,417,442 during the same period in 2024, according to preliminary data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

MUSCAT : The dip was mainly driven by a 7% decrease in passengers at Muscat International Airport, which handled 1,200,339 travelers on 8,099 flights—a 7.5% drop in flight operations.

Among these:

7,410 international flights carried 1,109,650 passengers
689 domestic flights transported 90,689 passengers

Contrasting the decline in Muscat, Salalah Airport reported a 5% increase in passenger numbers, reaching 126,506 travelers across 822 flights, a 1.6% rise in air traffic.

404 international flights served 59,429 passengers
418 domestic flights carried 67,077 passengers

Other airports activity

Sohar Airport operated 6 international flights and 4 domestic flights
Duqm Airport recorded 4,774 passengers on 52 flights
