Over 289,000 live cows and sheep available in Oman to meet rising demand during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources has announced that a total of 289,089 live cows and sheep are available in January and February, ensuring a stable supply of red meat for the local market ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

MUSCAT : Eng. Khalfan bin Matar Al Sharji, Director General of Animal Wealth, stated that the Ministry is actively coordinating with livestock import companies to facilitate and simplify import procedures. As part of these efforts, 129 import permits have been approved, allowing the entry of 359,150 livestock, including 332,700 goats and sheep and 26,450 cows.

To ensure the health and safety of imported livestock, veterinary teams are enforcing strict quarantine measures to prevent the entry of infectious and epidemic diseases into Oman.
