Mining, manufacturing, and utilities see declines as Oman’s producer price index dips 1.7% in Q4 2024

The producer price index (PPI) in Oman fell by 1.7% in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, according to the latest data from the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Muscat: The decline was driven by lower prices across mining, manufacturing, and utility sectors.

  • The mining and quarrying group saw a 0.1% dip, with crude oil and natural gas prices slipping by the same margin. Stone and sand products fell 0.7%, while mineral ore products dropped 1.5%.
  • Manufacturing prices declined 3.8%, led by a 10.3% drop in transportable goods. However, food, beverages, and textiles saw a 2.6% increase, while metal products, machinery, and equipment rose 5.3%.
  • The electricity production group recorded a 5.2% decrease, while water production prices fell 4.4%.
