MUSCAT: Oman’s integrated pharmaceutical hub, ‘Medicine City,’ within Khazaen Economic City in South Al Batinah, has secured nine major local and foreign health sector projects by the end of 2024, with total investments reaching RO 156 million (USD 405 million).
The projects span across specialized pharmaceutical manufacturing, human vaccines, medicines, medical supplies, and logistics facilities for the storage and import of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.
Engineer Salem bin Sulaiman Al Dhahli, CEO of Khazaen Economic City, emphasized that Medicine City is a strategic pillar in Oman’s vision to strengthen its health sector, attracting both local and international investors.

Among the key projects localized within the zone are:
Biogenmix’s insulin manufacturing facility
Aviso Pharmaceutical Company’s integrated pharmaceutical complex
Opal Biopharmaceutical Company’s factory
A titanium dental implant factory
A newly signed contract with Advanced Technologies Company for a veterinary vaccine plant
Al Dhahli highlighted that Khazaen Economic City is committed to expanding pharmaceutical and medical supply investments by offering an integrated environment for industry players.
New projects will be announced this year as Medicine City continues to grow, focusing on pharmaceutical production, medical equipment manufacturing, and expanding existing factories such as Opal Biopharmaceuticals, which has entered its second phase.
Additionally, specialized logistics facilities will be introduced to support the supply chain for Oman’s health sector, enhancing drug security, medical education, research, and development.
