Muscat: Taie bin Salem Al Junaibi, Director General of Consumer Protection in Dhofar, emphasized that the directorate is working to maintain the availability of essential commodities at reasonable prices, while ensuring suppliers adhere to regulations. He stressed that there will be zero tolerance for any attempts to exploit Ramadan demand through unjustified price hikes or deceptive practices.

To reinforce market control, the Authority has deployed specialized field teams for daily inspections across grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, and meat and vegetable markets. Traders have been warned to display clear price lists and provide accurate invoices, with strict penalties in place for violations.

Beyond enforcement, the Authority is also encouraging smart shopping habits. Al Junaibi urged residents to avoid over-purchasing, read product labels carefully, and report any pricing or quality violations through the Authority’s 24/7 hotline and electronic application.
