Muscat: The first day of Ramadan in the Sultanate of Oman is expected to begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025, as the Islamic world prepares to sight the crescent moon on Friday, February 28.

Astronomers predict that the Ramadan 1446 AH crescent will be visible through telescopes in Western Asia, most of Africa, and Southern Europe, while large parts of the Americas may witness it with the naked eye.

Across Oman, anticipation is building as communities prepare for the sacred month of fasting, reflection, and togetherness. Our lensman VK Shafeer has captured stunning moments of people from all walks of life gearing up for the occasion. Across Oman markets are bustling with Ramadan essentials, families stocking up on dates and traditional foods, and mosques illuminated in preparation for extended prayers.

With the holy month just days away, Omanis and residents alike are set to embrace Ramadan with spiritual devotion, charity, and communal gatherings, reinforcing the deep-rooted traditions that make this time of year so special.
