Muscat – The project, which spans a distance of 170 kilometres, is being carried out by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology at an estimated total cost of RO 13.6 million.
Set to be finished by the first half of 2026, this ambitious project is part of ongoing efforts by the General Directorate of Roads and Land Transport in Dhofar to enhance the region’s infrastructure. These efforts include road construction, paving, rehabilitation, and maintenance initiatives across various wilayats in the governorate.

Highlighting details of the project, Eng. Said Mohammed Tabuk, Director General of Roads and Land Transport in Dhofar Governorate, stated that the new road will be 8 meters wide, starting from the centre of Maqshin and extending through several neighbouring areas, ultimately reaching the Niyabat of Marsoud. This 170-kilometer stretch will feature facilities for rainwater drainage, side protection works, and all necessary traffic safety elements.

In addition to improving connectivity within the wilayat, the project will link Maqshin’s centre with surrounding districts such as Mandar Al Dhabyan, Al Mashash, and Marsoudad. This development is expected to foster growth in tourism, commerce, and social activities in the area. Furthermore, the upgraded road network will enhance the efficiency of Oman’s overall road system and contribute to the reduction of traffic accidents.

The project is divided into four key sections, including: Marsoudd to Manader (43 km), Manader to Manader Al-Dhabyan (16 km), Maqshin to Manader (44 km), and a 67 km stretch from Marsoudd to the Al-Mashash district.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology aims to strengthen the Sultanate’s road infrastructure through these projects, boosting traffic safety and supporting Oman’s economic and civilisational development in line with the latest international standards.
