Commerce minister highlights efforts to boost Oman’s business landscape at State Council meeting

The State Council hosted His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, to review the Ministry's initiatives to develop Oman's business environment and support private sector growth.

Muscat – The session, led by His Excellency Sheikh Abdulmalik Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, was attended by Secretary-General of the State Council, under-secretaries, specialists and advisors of the ministry and a number of the council’s employees.

During the meeting, the Minister delivered a detailed visual presentation showcasing the Ministry’s efforts to create a competitive and dynamic business landscape in Oman.
Key topics discussed included the promotion of a knowledge-based economy, supported by policies and legislation that encourage competition while protecting local industries. The Minister also highlighted the Oman Business and the Industrial Strategy Platform, which aims to align the nation’s industrial strategies with global market demands.

In addition, the National Program for Private Sector Development was outlined, focusing on empowering local businesses, boosting investment opportunities, and creating new employment avenues. The creation of the Oman Center for Strategic Partnerships and Foreign Trade was also introduced as a pivotal step towards enhancing Oman’s global trade relations and attracting foreign investment.
Following the presentation, His Excellency Qais Al Yousef engaged with State Council members, addressing their questions and comments regarding the various initiatives and their potential impact on the nation’s economic future.

This meeting marked a significant moment in Oman’s continued efforts to diversify its economy, empower the private sector, and build a resilient and competitive business environment in line with the goals of Vision 2040.
