MUSCAT – Official working hours for government employees will be reduced to 5 continuous hours each day, starting from 9 am to 2 pm.

Unit heads are authorised to implement a flexible working hours system, allowing employees to adjust their arrival and departure times within the period of 7 am to 3 pm. This must adhere to the total scheduled working hours and the unit’s operational needs.

For certain positions where remote work is feasible, the remote work system will also be implemented, with the approval of the unit head. However, to ensure efficient service delivery, no less than 50 percent of employees in any given unit will be required to be physically present at the workplace.

Working hours for Muslim employees in private sector establishments will be reduced to 6 hours per day, and the total weekly working hours will not exceed 30 hours. This adjustment is aimed at accommodating the spiritual and religious practices during Ramadan while maintaining a balanced work environment.
