Muscat – These initiatives are designed to support Oman’s sustainability objectives and contribute to achieving the national goals outlined in the Oman 2040 Vision, particularly the target of reaching zero emissions.

The upcoming projects are being launched in cooperation with licensed companies across various sectors. His Excellency Dr. Mansour Talib Al Hinai, Chairman of APSR, highlighted the importance of these initiatives in fostering Oman’s transition to a sustainable, zero-emission future, strengthening its renewable energy infrastructure, and improving access to essential public services.
Electricity Cut-Off Guidelines

During the meeting, Dr. Al Hinai also addressed concerns related to electricity service cut-offs, outlining specific cases in which power should not be disconnected. These include:
• The last working day before weekends and official holidays.
• Between 5 pm and 7 am.
• During General Education Diploma exams and Ramadan, according to the schedules issued by the competent authority.
During the meeting, H.E. Dr. Al Hinai acknowledged ongoing challenges, particularly in meter reading accuracy.
His Excellency also provided updates on APSR’s performance:
• In 2024, the APSR successfully collected RO 60,000 in compensation payments to affected beneficiaries.
• Beneficiary satisfaction levels have risen to 75 percent, up from the 70 percent target for 2024.
• The continuous water flow rate reached 97 percent.
• The average time for electricity connection to homes was reduced to two days, and water connection to five days, achieving 2024 targets
• The percentage of treated sewage water has increased to 98 percent.
Dr. Al Hinai shared promising figures regarding the performance of regulated companies:
• The rate of sudden power outages stands at 14 percent, with a remarkable reliability rate of 99.9 percent for the transmission network.
• The local value contributions of regulated companies have significantly increased, reaching 66 million Omani riyals in 2024, compared to 35 million riyals in 2023.
• Renewable energy production is expected to increase by 9 percent of total energy production in 2024.

These efforts reflect the ongoing commitment of the Public Services Authority to drive innovation, improve public service delivery, and support Oman’s climate goals as part of its broader vision for a sustainable future. The initiatives announced today will further strengthen the Sultanate’s position as a leader in environmental sustainability in the MENA region.
