Muscat – The event, running from February 24 to 27, 2025, aims to address the urgent need for environmental solutions and discuss global strategies to mitigate the effects of climate change. With over 250 distinguished speakers from 60 countries, the weeklong activities include dialogue sessions, workshops, and training programs focused on climate action and sustainability.

Organised by the Environment Authority in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Oman Climate Week is a landmark event in the Sultanate’s commitment to fostering global collaboration on climate change. The activities highlight the pressing need for comprehensive policies and practices that will enable the world to meet its climate goals and transition to a sustainable, low-carbon future.

In his opening speech, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, underscored Oman’s deep sense of environmental responsibility. He emphasized that the conference is a reflection of the Sultanate’s dedication to environmental protection and its growing role as a key global player in the field.

The event focuses on the region’s and the world’s transition to renewable energy, exploring opportunities for collaboration and sustainable innovation. Participants will engage in meaningful discussions about policies, technologies, and solutions that can help reduce emissions, strengthen climate resilience, and combat global warming.

Oman Climate Week also holds significant importance in light of the global commitment to achieving the 1.5 degrees Celsius target set at COP29. The event underscores the critical need for collaborative efforts between governments, the private sector, and global stakeholders to implement effective climate strategies. Oman is particularly committed to its Oman Vision 2040 and national climate adaptation strategy, which prioritize renewable energy and decarbonization as part of the nation’s long-term sustainable development goals.
