MUSCAT : The initiative, led by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), aims to streamline the drone registration process, enhance airspace management, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

With drones increasingly being used for commercial, recreational, and governmental purposes, the need for efficient airspace management has become a growing concern globally. Oman’s new digital platform addresses this by simplifying procedures for drone operators and accelerating the licensing process. The platform also supports the safe and efficient management of drone operations, ensuring that they adhere to civil aviation regulations.

Key objectives of the digital Platform:

• Simplifying procedures and accelerating the licensing process
• Efficient and safe management of drone operations in compliance with regulatory standards
• Enhancing air navigation safety and ensuring compliance with civil aviation regulations
• Enriching the economic, recreational, and tourism sectors

• Decision No. 1412/2023 regarding the issuance of the Regulations for Drone Operations
• Executive Regulations of the Civil Aviation Law, issued by Decision No. 116/2023
• Civil Aviation Law issued by Royal Decree No. 76/2019
  
  The platform is also expected to support the growth of Oman’s economic, recreational, and tourism sectors by providing a regulated environment for drone use, which can enhance services such as aerial photography, inspections, and even tourism-based activities.
