MUSCAT : OPAZ had recently launched the third package tender for the construction of dry port facilities and a veterinary quarantine at EZAD, inviting experienced Omani and Saudi companies to purchase the tender documents and submit their bids before, April 17.

The primary goals for establishing the dry port, according to OPAZ, are to:

• Strengthen trade exchange between Oman and Saudi Arabia
• Reduce transit times for goods to reach their final destination
• Enhance Oman’s trade with other countries
• Expand investment partnerships and attract additional investments

The tender includes the development of the first phase of the dry port over 1 square kilometre, with the total allocated area for the port spanning 4 square kilometres. Additionally, the veterinary quarantine facility will be constructed to support the growing trade and logistics demands in the region.

The dry port is a key component of the economic zone, which is located near the Omani-Saudi border (Al Rubaa Al Khali) and developed in collaboration between the Sultanate of Oman and Saudi Arabia. This development is expected to open new economic opportunities and support the diversification of Oman’s economy. The dry port will be operated by Asyad Group, a subsidiary of the Oman Investment Authority, due to its expertise in managing such facilities.
