Oman’s Agricultural and Fisheries Fund invests RO 3 million in 2024 projects

The Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund supported 17 projects in 2024, investing over RO 3 million to strengthen Oman’s food security and sustainable production, according to Jawaher bint Hamoud bin Hamdan Al Rawahi, Acting Director of the Investment and Project Financing Department.

MUSCAT : As part of its ongoing strategy, the Fund will continue its efforts in 2025 to support local production, enhance supply chains, and improve self-sufficiency rates in the agricultural and fisheries sectors. A key initiative this year includes a workshop on innovation and modern technology, aimed at fostering greater collaboration between government and private entities.

Vision 2040 Strategy: Key Focus Areas

The Fund’s 2040 strategy is centered around specialized and joint programs designed to increase the agricultural and fisheries sectors’ contribution to GDP. Among the major initiatives:

Palm tree and date development

Expansion of fish farming

Utilization of non-traditional water sources for agriculture

Food industry growth and safety enhancement

Strengthening the marketing system and increasing added value for plant, animal, and fish products

Criteria for Project Support

Projects seeking funding must align with the Fund’s 2040 Strategy and have partnerships with public or private sector entities, cooperative societies, or other stakeholders. Additionally, projects must:

Create job opportunities for Omanis

Contribute to human capacity-building

Have a direct developmental impact on beneficiaries

Be widely implemented across Omani governorates
