MUSCAT : The project, valued at RO 350,000, will span 4.8 million square meters and stretch over 6 kilometres, contributing to the region’s social and sports infrastructure development.
The agreement outlines the construction of the track in accordance with the specifications set by the Oman Camel Racing Federation. Additionally, guidance boards indicating race distances will be placed along the track, while race observer towers will be constructed for filming the competitions. The facility will also feature stands for spectators and a VIP platform.

The cooperation agreement was signed by Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Akaak, CEO of SEZAD, and Yousef bin Sulaiman Al Raisi, General Manager of Vulcan Green Steel Company.
In his remarks, Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Akaak explained that the camel racing track aligns with SEZAD’s efforts to enhance services and promote social investment in the region. He noted that Duqm and neighbouring areas are renowned for their breeding of purebred Omani camels and expressed the zone’s commitment to supporting camel racing and fostering local sports.
Yousef bin Sulaiman Al Raisi highlighted that the company’s contribution to the project reflects its commitment to community development and the promotion of local events in the Special Economic Zone. He stressed that the racing track would serve as an important addition to the Al Wusta Governorate, providing a dedicated space for the popular sport of camel racing and contributing to the region’s social and cultural activities.
