Muscat – The incident, which resulted in four deaths and 15 injuries, led to the defendant, Mohammed Faras, receiving a prison sentence and facing permanent deportation after serving his term. The ruling was issued by the Primary Court in the Wilayat of Liwa.

The court found Faras guilty of driving at high speed in a manner that endangered lives and property, and of deliberately driving against traffic on a divided road, resulting in the deaths of four people. He was sentenced to two years in prison for the first offense and three months for the second, with the sentences to be served concurrently, the longer sentence taking precedence. The court also ordered the revocation of his driving license for one year, the publication of the verdict in both Arabic and Hindi, and his permanent deportation from Oman after serving his sentence. He is also responsible for paying legal expenses.

In a statement issued on the imprisonment and deportation, the Public Prosecution explained that Faras drove his vehicle against the flow of traffic, colliding with multiple vehicles. The collision resulted in the deaths of four people and injuries to 15 others, ranging from serious to moderate.
