MUSCAT : The Sultanate of Oman has climbed to 8th place worldwide in the Global Entrepreneurship Index (GEI) 2024, a leap from its previous 5.4 score in 2023 to 5.7 this year, among a field of 56 countries.

The GEI, recognized globally and validated by rigorous academic peer review, measures the quality and dynamics of entrepreneurial ecosystems on both national and regional levels. It draws on methodologies that have been cited by leading publications such as The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and Forbes. Meanwhile, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM)—established in 1995—remains the most trusted source for entrepreneurship insights and data worldwide.
