Private vehicles dominate as Oman’s vehicle registrations reach 1.75 million in 2024

The total number of registered vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman climbed to 1,753,872 by the end of December 2024, with privately licensed vehicles making up the lion’s share at 79.6% (1,396,117 vehicles).

Muscat: Vehicles with engine capacities ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 cc formed the largest segment, accounting for 54.4% (954,137 vehicles). White continued its reign as the most popular color, representing 42.5% (745,196 vehicles) of the total registered fleet.

Commercially licensed vehicles contributed 14.5% (253,895 vehicles) to the overall count, while the rental and taxi segments stood at 2.3% (39,919 vehicles) and 1.6% (28,239 vehicles), respectively. Meanwhile, a staggering 90.7% (1,591,234 vehicles) of all registered vehicles in the Sultanate weighed under 3 tons, reflecting the dominance of light vehicles on Omani roads.
