Muscat – The event, themed ‘Oman at the Heart of Global Supply Chains’, was held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahad Bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University.
His Excellency Dr. Saleh bin Said Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, delivered a keynote address highlighting the progress made by the industrial sector. He revealed that the output of the manufacturing sector had increased by 8.5 percent, reaching RO 2.686 billion by the end of September 2024 at constant prices.

His Excellency Dr. Masan highlighted the importance of stable supply chains in ensuring the continuity of production processes and achieving operational efficiency. “The stability of supply chains in the industrial sector is a fundamental pillar for ensuring the continuity of production processes and achieving operational efficiency. Accomplishing this requires meticulous planning and effective coordination among all stakeholders, from suppliers to end customers. It also involves the ability to anticipate and manage risks efficiently, such as fluctuations in demand, price volatility, and global crises that may disrupt the flow of raw materials. Additionally, adopting advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence and data analytics, plays a crucial role in enhancing supply chain resilience and improving response speed to emerging challenges,” he stated.

His Excellency also referenced the Global Competitive Industrial Performance Report from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), which ranked Oman third in the Arab world and 53rd globally, showcasing the significant strides the Sultanate has made in boosting its industrial competitive capabilities.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry reiterated the abundant opportunities for growth, sustainability, and the empowerment of the private sector within Oman’s industrial landscape. He highlighted the Chamber’s ongoing efforts to support the sector, attract investment, and enhance the competitiveness of Omani products both locally and internationally.
