MUSCAT : The event, organised by the Directorate General of Health Services in North Al Batinah Governorate, with support from the Sohar Health Complex, saw the participation of ultrasound experts and specialists from various health institutions across the Sultanate of Oman.
Dr. Rashida bint Abdullah Al Tourshi, Consultant Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, and Foetal Medicine Specialist at Sohar Hospital and Sohar Health Complex, highlighted that the primary goal of the conference is to enhance professional competence in the field and transfer the latest scientific developments in ultrasound techniques. Ultrasound has become an indispensable tool in the diagnosis and monitoring of pregnancy, offering precise capabilities to track the health of both the mother and foetus while enabling early detection of potential health issues that may affect the safety and progress of the pregnancy.

The conference is structured into three key stages. The first stage consists of scientific lectures and training workshops, designed to deepen participants’ knowledge and provide advanced skills in using ultrasound devices. The second and third stages will focus on the clinical applications of ultrasound technology, as well as the review of the latest scientific and technical developments, ensuring that participants can apply the latest medical research in their practice.
The conference will also feature presentations of scientific papers and a review of the latest ultrasound techniques, emphasising their role in diagnosing conditions, particularly in the first trimester of pregnancy. The event will also cover the identification of foetal diseases and early health problems. Strategies to improve training and ensure the effective application of these skills in daily medical practice will be discussed to help deliver more accurate and efficient healthcare.
Over 50 female trainee doctors from across Oman will be participating in the conference, receiving hands-on training under the supervision of internationally accredited trainers from the Oman Ultrasound Society. These accompanying workshops, hosted at the Sohar Health Complex, aim to empower participants with the skills necessary to provide top-tier healthcare and enhance the practice of obstetrics and gynaecology in the country.
