MUSCAT : Eng. Salem bin Ali Al Omrani, Director General of the Directorate General of Agriculture and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah Governorate, highlighted the seven ongoing projects as a significant step towards enhancing food security and achieving sustainable development in the region.
One of the key projects is the Gulf International Poultry Farms, affiliated with the Arab Food Production Company. The project, valued at approximately RO 27 million, is located in the Wilayat of Ibri on a 4,285-acre plot. It will produce 360 million eggs annually, meeting the needs of both Oman and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council region. The project is expected to provide around 148 jobs, with nearly 80 positions reserved for Omanis.

The Sabil Agricultural Consulting Company is also developing a project that will produce 46 million table eggs annually in its first phase. Located in the governorate, the project will cost an estimated RO 1.5 million and is expected to contribute 6.5 percent to the local production of table eggs. The project includes multiple sheds, a refrigerated storage unit, and a feed factory.
Another significant initiative is Al-Inam Business Company’s Omani goat farming project in the Wilayat of Dhank. The project, valued at RO 417,000 in its early stages, will focus on raising goats for red meat production. The project aims to produce up to 10,000 goats annually, with plans to expand to half a million goats annually on 95 acres.
Eng. Al Omrani pointed out that 30 more investment opportunities will be available this year, further contributing to the agricultural, animal, and water resource sectors in Al Dhahirah.
