NEW YORK: Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum on Monday said US tariffs are on hold for one month after a conversation with President Donald Trump and a pledge to send 10,000 troops to the border to fight drug trafficking.
“We had a good conversation with President Trump with much respect for our relationship and sovereignty,” Sheinbaum said.
Teams from the two countries would start working on Monday on the issues of security and trade, Sheinbaum said. “Tariffs are paused for one month from now.,” she added.

Meanwhile Trump said: “I just spoke with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico. It was a very friendly conversation wherein she agreed to immediately supply 10,000 Mexican Soldiers on the Border separating Mexico and the United States.”
