ROME: In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Italian Ministry of Health said the alert covers Ancona, Bari, Bologna, Bolzano, Brescia, Cagliari, Campobasso, Catania, Civitavecchia, Florence, Frosinone, Genoa, Latina, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Perugia, Pescara, Rieti, Rome, Turin, Trieste, Venice, Verona and Viterbo.
Health authorities warned that the extreme heat could have adverse effects on the entire population, not only vulnerable groups such as older adults and children.
Under the ministry’s three-tier heat alert system, a red alert is the highest warning level, indicating that weather conditions pose a significant health risk to the general public.
