MUSCAT : Speaking on the sidelines of the graduation ceremony of startups affiliated with the Promising Omani Startup Accelerators, held under his patronage, H.E. Abdulsalam Murshidi highlighted the importance of the digital economy and opportunities for young investors.
In response to questions during the ceremony, OIA President highlighted the importance of the digital economy, noting that it is one of the most promising sectors in the current economic landscape. “In the digital economy, capital begins with the idea, and then comes the financial support,” he said. He emphasised that the funding from the Oman Future Fund would play a crucial role in nurturing the growth of innovative startups.

He also commended Omani entrepreneurs who have successfully secured investments from outside the Sultanate. “We are proud that many innovative Omanis have found investors from abroad, which demonstrates the global recognition of Omani ideas and solutions,” he remarked.
Addressing the challenges faced by young entrepreneurs, he stated that while young people may initially require capital, what truly matters is their determination and willingness to put their ideas into action. He also stressed the importance of corporate support, particularly in promoting and believing in the products and applications of startups.
The OIA Chairman emphasized that the digital sector offers significant potential for economic growth, stating, “The digital sector also provides sales solutions for most other sectors.”
The Oman Future Fund, launched last year, has allocated 10 percent of its RO 2 billion budget to support startups and innovative projects. H.E. Abdulsalam Al Murshidi further emphasised the OIA’s focus on evaluating the potential impact of these projects on the Sultanate’s GDP and job creation.
The event, organised in collaboration with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn, and the Industrial Innovation Academy, marked a significant milestone for the graduates of the program.
