Muscat – The Ministry explained that committee for sighting the crescent moon of the Hijri months follows astronomical confirmations, which state that the crescent moon for the month of Sha’ban will not be visible on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, before sunset in any region of the Sultanate of Oman. As a result, the committee clarified that Thursday will be the final day of Rajab, and Friday will begin the new month of Sha’ban.
The committee does not accept reports that contradict scientific evidence, noting the impossibility of sighting the crescent on January 29. It reaffirmed its commitment to aligning with accurate astronomical data, ensuring the correct observation of the Islamic lunar calendar.
