MUSCAT : The case unfolded when the CPA’s Complaints Department received a formal grievance from a consumer against a contracting and interior works company. The consumer alleged that the company had abandoned construction mid-project, failing to meet the agreed timeframe and delivering subpar work that fell short of required specifications. Upon inspection, significant defects were identified in the partially built house.
Despite the consumer’s repeated attempts to resolve the issue directly with the company—resulting in an initial agreement to rectify the flaws—the company failed to take corrective action. Following standard procedures, the CPA intervened by summoning both parties and facilitating discussions to resolve the complaint.
The mediation concluded with an amicable settlement, compensating the consumer with OMR 7,000 to cover the costs of fixing the building’s defects.
