Muscat: According to Article 12 of the Labour Law, an employer’s decision to terminate an employment contract will be deemed arbitrary if it is based on the worker’s absence due to detention or imprisonment by the competent authorities.
This protection applies provided the detention period ends without the worker being referred to a competent court or if the court declares the worker’s innocence.
