MUSCAT : This initiative, located in the Wilayat of Maqshin in the Dhofar Governorate, marks the first time the resettlement is taking place outside the confines of natural reserves in Oman.
The project aims to restore the historical and geographical distribution of the reem gazelle in the wild. The release will see the gazelles roam freely, unfettered by artificial boundaries, as they are reintroduced to their natural habitat.
The project will utilize advanced monitoring and tracking tools, including satellites and radio devices, to ensure the safety and well-being of the gazelles. Scientific research will also be an integral component of the project, providing valuable insights into the success of the resettlement and the long-term viability of the gazelle population in the wild.
