Muscat – The CPA confiscated 1,570 items and imposed fines totalling RO 1,300 on the violators.
As per a statement from the CPA, the violating commercial shop was found during the Authority’s field visits to the local markets in the governorate. The shop specialised in sale of natural herbs and had on display products that have been banned from circulation.
The confiscated items included products that violated Decision No. 254/2015, which regulates the trading of natural and manufactured herbs, plant extracts, medical devices, and their advertisements. Additionally, products such as ‘Royal Honey’ and ‘ETUMAX’ were seized for violating Decision No. 743/2015. Other items, such as ‘Cinema Shampoo’, were confiscated for breaching Article 21 of the executive regulations of the Consumer Protection Law.
The prohibited products were subsequently removed from the market.
The Authority emphasizes to all traders the importance of legal, legislative, and regulatory awareness. Traders are required to ensure that goods comply with the approved specifications and standards.
CPA also calls on traders to familiarize themselves with decisions issued regarding the withdrawal or prohibition of products from the market by the relevant authorities before offering them to consumers, so as to ensure public safety and avoid legal accountability.
