MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Saturday declared that November 20 of each year will be celebrated as Oman’s National Day.

November 20th is considered to be the foundation day of Al Busaidi dynasty. “It is the day on which Al Busaidi family was honoured to serve the dear country since 1744 AD at the hands of the founding Imam, Sayyid Ahmed bin Said Al Busaidi,” His Majesty Sultan Haitham explained during his address to the nation on Saturday.

“Sayyid Ahmed bin Said Al Busaidi unified the banner of the Omani nation and led its struggle and great sacrifices for the sake of complete sovereignty over the land of Oman and freedom and dignity for its honourable sons,” His Majesty added
