Muscat: Designed to promote sustainable and innovative projects across its wilayats, these awards play a key role in Oman’s development vision.

His Excellency Mahmoud bin Yahya Al Dhahli, Governor of North Al Sharqiyah and General Supervisor of the Awards, emphasized the initiative’s alignment with fostering an innovative economy. “The three awards, which were allocated in the fields of architectural innovation, institutional excellence, and community contribution, represent part of the vision of the innovative economy, which seeks to invest in national skills and cadres, and work to develop creative projects that are in line with the needs of society and its qualitative societal aspirations,” he stated.

The Innovative Architectural Design Award focuses on transforming unused lands into tourist and entertainment hubs. Targeting young architects and engineers, it seeks to blend modernity with cultural authenticity. Projects under this category will enhance the aesthetics and functionality of public spaces across wilayats like Ibra, Al Mudhaibi, Bidiyah, and Sinaw, integrating walkways, afforestation, and public facilities that align with the local environment.

The Community Contribution and Volunteer Work Award encourages initiatives that serve the local population and foster a culture of volunteerism. His Excellency highlighted its aim to inspire constructive competition and strengthen partnerships between individuals and civil institutions, with core values of integration, empowerment, and sustainability.

The Institutional Excellence Award targets government institutions, promoting high-quality service delivery and innovative management practices. It aims to create a competitive environment that drives performance, enhances institutional efficiency, and strengthens trust between institutions and beneficiaries.

Registration for these awards began in late December through an electronic portal, with submissions closing in the second quarter of this year. Winners will be celebrated at a grand ceremony slated for year-end, marking another step in the governorate’s journey toward becoming a cultural and economic beacon in Oman.
