Muscat – The rocket’s successful journey marks a significant milestone in Oman’s aspirations to establish itself as a regional gateway to space.
The historic launch took place at 10:05 am (Oman time) on December 5, from a site located 18 degrees north, 56 degrees east, south of the Wilayat of Duqm. The launch was conducted by Etlaq Company, a subsidiary of the National Space Services Company (NASCOM), under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology. The launch is part of the Sultanate’s broader strategic initiatives to advance the space sector and bolster its position as a key player in the global space industry.
The successful launch of Duqm-1 represents a major step forward for Oman, marking its entry into the rapidly growing space sector. The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology has emphasized that this milestone is a significant achievement not only for Oman but also for the Middle East region as a whole.
