MUSCAT : The decree aims to enhance the alignment of vocational training with labour market needs and improve the sector’s efficiency.
The Royal Decree, issued today, December 5, outlines the new responsibilities of the Ministry of Labour, which will now focus on providing technical and vocational training linked to labour market requirements, developing training curricula, and granting qualifications in accordance with professional standards. The decree also encourages on-the-job training as part of the vocational training initiative.
Article Two of the decree ensures the transfer of all resources, assets, rights, and obligations related to vocational training from the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation to the Ministry of Labour. In addition, employees working in the vocational training sector will also be transferred to the Ministry of Labour, maintaining their current financial grades.
The decree will be effective immediately upon its issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.
