Muscat – The event, organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, will run until December 6 and will take place at key locations in the Land of Frankincense, including Al Baleed Archaeological Park and Wadi Dokah Reserve.

Khalid bin Abdullah Al Abri, Director General of the Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar, highlighted that the event aims to emphasise the significant historical role of the frankincense tree across ancient civilizations. This year’s program will feature a live demonstration on the production of frankincense products and extracts, as well as a range of scientific and cultural activities for children, under the theme ‘The Little Trader’.

Additionally, an exhibition will showcase perfumes and frankincense-based products from Omani companies, with a special live show depicting historical trade markets that were once connected to Oman’s frankincense exports. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of attractions, including a restaurant corner, a pleasure boat experience in Khor Al Baleed, and a children’s theater.
A highlight of this season’s activities includes the planting of 100 frankincense trees at the Wadi Dokah Reserve. On December 2, there will be a special celebration marking the inclusion of the Frankincense Land sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Frankincense Season activities aim to promote the rich historical and cultural heritage of Dhofar, enhance tourism in the region, and provide a platform for researchers and innovators working with frankincense and its derivatives
