MUSCAT : In an advisory issued, the Ministry stated that the Directorate General of Specifications and Standards, through its Household Appliances Laboratory, conducts inspections and tests the electrical wires and cables used in household appliances so as to ensure customers’ safety and security.
The purpose of these tests is to make sure that all cables and wires adhere to the International Electrotechnical Commission’s (IEC) safety regulations.
“Make sure to purchase appliances that comply with approved standards” the advisory stated.
