Muscat: The winners of the eleventh session of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts, and Literature—this year dedicated to Omanis in the fields of ‘Radio Programs’ in the Arts Branch, ‘Studies in the Omani Environment’ in the Culture Branch, and ‘Classical Arabic Poetry’ in the Literature Branch—will be announced at a press conference tomorrow, November 13, by the SQHCC.
The award’s nomination period ran from March 31, 2024, to July 21, 2024.
The prize is given out annually, with Omanis competing alongside their Arab brethren in one year and Omanis alone in another. It is awarded alternatively every two years.
In addition to highlighting Omani contributions to human civilization through material, intellectual, and cognitive accomplishments, the award is given to writers, artists, and intellectuals for their civilizational contributions to reviving thought and uplifting human conscience.
It is important to note that the award was created by Royal Decree No. 18/2011 in support of intellectuals, artists, and writers in particular, as well as the fields of culture, arts, and literature in general, as a means of advancing human civilizational progress. It also confirms the Sultanate of Oman’s historical role in fostering cultural awareness.
