MUSCAT : Issa bin Ali Al Ghassani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Oman Centre for Commercial Arbitration, opened the seminar by outlining the Centre’s commitment to modernization and specialisation. “The Centre has included in its plans for the next phase development, modernisation, specialisation and application of the latest technologies that will enable it to proceed with steady steps to keep pace with the scientific and cognitive acceleration in the field of arbitration,” he noted.
Al Ghassani emphasized that sports are more than just physical contests; they serve as a platform for teaching values like discipline, patience, and respect. The Sports Arbitration and Integrity Guarantees Symposium, he added, is just the start of a series of programs designed to expand specialized arbitration efforts across various sectors.
Prominent sports arbitration expert Dave Kumar Parmar presented a comprehensive overview of the evolution of sports and the need for impartial arbitration in the face of growing complexities in sports-related disputes. Parmar highlighted the unique role sports arbitration plays in swiftly resolving disputes, contrasting it with the often lengthy judicial process. He explained that sports arbitration protects the rights of athletes, clubs, and federations while ensuring faster, more effective resolutions.
